Yeysk Historical and Local History Museum named after V.V. Samsonov
About museum
The Yeysk Historical and Local History Museum is one of the oldest museums in Krasnodar Krai, founded in 1920 on the basis of a museum of visual aids. In 2000 the museum was named after the prominent Yeysk local historian Vladimir Vasilievich Samsonov. In 1971 a memorial museum of the Honored Master of Sports of the USSR Ivan Maksimovich Poddubny was opened. In the 1980s the museum received a collection from Yeysk resident I. A. Arzamastsev. In 2008 an art museum was opened, and in 1995 a memorial complex 'To the Defenders of Yeysk' was opened on the Yeysk Spit. In 1986–1988 an exhibition of the main museum was created, presenting the nature and history of the northeast Azov region and the city of Yeysk. The museum regularly holds more than 30 permanent and traveling exhibitions from its own collections, as well as from the collections of other museums in Russia and from private collectors.
