CK19 Culture Center presents the exhibition "Young Design 2023: Toy". The exhibition features over 100 art objects: graphic design, photography, ceramics.
"Young Design" is an annual youth exhibition project by the Novosibirsk regional branch of the Union of Designers of Russia, now held for the sixth time, showcasing the best work of promising authors from across the country (aged 18 to 35) in the halls of CK19. This year's exhibition is dedicated to the theme of the toy.
"A toy is not just an object. For a child it is a true treasure. It's enough to recall the emotions each of us felt in childhood when receiving 'that very' toy as a gift. How we took it with us to visits, for walks, to kindergarten, on trips. How we cried when we forgot or lost it, and how we rejoiced when we found it. Very often that very 'friend' is still kept in the family and even passed down as a symbol of the personal world of childhood and sincere delight," shares curator Viktoria Babikova.
The "Young Design" project was created in 2018 by novice curators to study Siberian design. The first project on the theme "Fresh design" gave 30 young authors the opportunity to show their work on a professional exhibition platform. The next exhibition, "Animals", in 2019 brought together more than 40 people from Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Krasnoyarsk. The third and fourth projects were realized under pandemic conditions: in 2020 the theme was "...and the bows remained", in 2021: "GTO". In 2022 the authors presented a large-scale exhibition "Last Year's Future Snow Fell", dedicated to the New Year holiday.
Each project traditionally has its own "face": exhibition design, subthemes, accents, geography of participants (cities across Siberia, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Volgograd and even Thailand).
"The project authors have built a friendly community that supports young designers. <...> This is a landmark event in which participants can creatively divert themselves and 'mess around'. The guys experiment with themes and media, study the exhibition process, and offer original solutions. <...> 'Young Design' is always something special for viewers," explains curator Anastasia Ermish.
The exhibition runs until December 24, 2023.
