Starominsky Historical and Local Lore Museum
About museum
The Municipal Budgetary Cultural Institution "Starominsky Historical and Local Lore Museum" was established on September 30, 1975 by decision of the executive committee of the District Council of Workers' Deputies. In 1986 the museum was awarded the title "People's", and in 2001 it was reclassified as a municipal cultural institution. The museum's collections include natural local history exhibits, Cossack antiquities, documents, letters, military equipment and accoutrements from the periods of the Civil War and the Great Patriotic War, paintings and works of decorative and applied art by local artists, model aircraft from World War II, a rich book collection, and a unique Cossack archive from the USA. All of these were donated by young scouts, a native artist, and local writers. The museum invites visitors to take walks through the history and local lore of the Starominsky District.
