For the International Day of Families, celebrated annually on May 15, the A.N. Radishchev Museum hosted a retro meeting 'Family – unity of thoughts and deeds.' During the event, families competed in agility, ingenuity and originality, disproving the claim that intergenerational relations have noticeably worsened in the 21st century.\r\n\r\nAt the beginning of the meeting, an icebreaker in a playful format took place: parents and grandmothers recalled what they were called in childhood, while the children, conversely, wrote how they would be addressed by first name and patronymic. Family duos, standing back to back in parent–child pairs, took part in a blitz survey and were able to share advice from life experience.\r\n\r\nParticipants watched a video about Soviet childhood, which for the older generation took place in a different time, in a different country, with different things and toys. Adults shared their memories with the children.\r\n\r\nDuring the event participants assembled proverbs that contain wisdom accumulated by the people over centuries, and took part in games inspired by well-known TV shows 'From a Child's Mouth' and 'Guess the Melody.' In the game 'Brain-teasers from the Treasure Chest' parents took turns answering questions from their modern children, and in the game 'Explain-It' children and adults analyzed catchphrases and set expressions.\r\n\r\nChildhood is a special period in a person's life: children have a whole life ahead of them, while adults warmly remember their lost youth. Only the opportunities of some and the experience of others can establish the true bond between generations.\r\n\r\nFor more information about events at the A.N.
