On September 9, in a solemn ceremony, a monument to Nikita Zotov — teacher and associate of Peter I — was unveiled. The ceremony was attended by the Governor of the Moscow Region, Andrey Vorobyov, and the Presidential Aide, Chairman of the Russian Military-Historical Society, Vladimir Medinsky. They noted how important it is to “revive” historical spaces, recreate historical fragments for the younger generation and, of course, to improve areas for residents' comfortable leisure. The new square where the monument has been installed is divided into several zones for convenient relaxation: a children's playground, an area with chess tables, a book-exchange zone where one can spend time with a book, and a summer amphitheater for museum events. All work completed so far has been approved.
The second phase of improvement works in the square has already begun — handrails will be installed at the stairs, a ramp for people with limited mobility, sanitary facilities will be put into operation, video surveillance installation will be completed and electricity connected. The works are expected to be fully completed by mid-October.
Staff of the Lytkarino Museum are eagerly awaiting the completion of the square's landscaping and ask local residents to treat the new historical space with care — it was formerly part of the Lytkarino estate.
