Knights, musketeers, Native Americans, gladiators — you never know who you'll meet at the Museum Night program at the Artillery Museum.
Today I see this event in photos from the search query "Saint Petersburg, Museum Night"; it was clearly popular and generated a strong response, but I'll start with the backstory. I've only recently been getting into museums; I'm interested in anything unusual, interactive, and contemporary. In school they fed us too much of the classics, and now it feels like "I've already seen it all."
So I didn't realize that tickets for all the interesting tours would sell out long before "Museum Night." It turns out there are a lot of people interested; many hobbyists and professionals in this field put together the program for the event six months in advance.
How naive my attempts to buy a ticket on Saturday now seem; literally only a few museums were willing to open their doors to a short-sighted newcomer like me.
But there was one exception. The Artillery Museum decided to hold its program outside the building, in a large, spacious courtyard. There were plenty of tickets!
