In April, at the Kirov Diorama (a department of the Kirov Regional Local History Museum named after P.V. Alabin), two major exhibition projects united by a single theme will open simultaneously: the contribution of Kirov residents to the cause of the Great Victory.
The exhibition “City of Kirov — to the Front” (0+) will tell about the selfless labor of Kirov residents in support of the front, about the work of the city’s enterprises and the factories evacuated to Kirov. It should be recalled that in 2021, by decree of the President of Russia V.V. Putin, the city of Kirov was awarded the title “City of Labour Valour.”
“Already in the first year of the war, the country’s most important defense enterprises were evacuated to Kirov. At the exhibition you will be able to see unique documents, photographs taken in workshops where women and children worked, and examples of wartime production,” the Diorama staff said.
Another exhibition project at the Diorama will be dedicated to the well-known native of the Vyatka region, Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Molotov, and his contribution to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
On the first day of the war over the radio to the entire Soviet Union rang Molotov’s words: 'Our cause is just. The enemy will be crushed. Victory will be ours!' These words became the leitmotif of the Soviet people’s struggle against the Nazi invaders.
At the exhibition visitors will be able to see rare photographs and documents related to V.M. Molotov’s biography and activities, including his childhood in the Nolinsky uyezd of the Vyatka Governorate. Interesting exhibits include gifts sent to V.M. Molotov on his 50th anniversary in 1940 from each Soviet republic.
Also in April the permanent exhibition of the Museum of Military Glory will be updated. The focus will be on samples of weapons and military equipment. Kirov residents and city guests will see legendary weapons: the Mosin rifle, the Degtyaryov light machine gun, the Tokarev self-loading rifle (SVT), the Shpagin submachine gun (PPSh), the TT pistol (Tula–Tokarev) and others. The exhibition also reflects the martial feats of our countrymen: Heroes of the Soviet Union, full recipients of the Order of Glory, Marshals of the Soviet Union, and ordinary soldiers and officers.
Thanks to cooperation between the local history museum and members of the search movement, military history enthusiasts will see items found on battle sites: fragments of military equipment, tanks and aircraft, personal belongings of soldiers discovered at old combat positions.
The exhibition will also be supplemented by several dozen models of wartime military equipment from the Great Patriotic War (tanks, aircraft, naval ships).
