Mosfilm Film Studio Museum

The Mosfilm Film Studio Museum was opened in 2000. During its existence the museum has become a popular place both for Muscovites and for visitors to the capital. The museum is an active subdivision of the film studio. This means it does not have a permanent exhibition — the displayed items and props are periodically used on film and TV shoots.

The first hall visitors enter is the vintage car hall. All the retro cars have been restored, are in working condition and can be driven to shoots at any time. The museum's collection includes cars from iconic Soviet films: the Moskvich from "Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears", the Volga from "The Diamond Arm", Stierlitz's Mercedes-Benz, and many others.

The costume hall of the museum houses more than 300,000 items of women's, men's, historical and military costumes. The museum's collection includes costumes from films that have become Soviet and world classics: Sergey Bondarchuk's "War and Peace", Andrei Tarkovsky's "Solaris", "Anna Karenina", and "The Marriage of Balzaminov".

The technical hall displays film equipment from various years. It contains a unique collection of motion-picture cameras that allows you to trace the development of cinema technology from the simplest movie cameras to digital cameras. Vintage equipment is sometimes used in shoots for films about Soviet directors and 20th-century cinema.

On the territory of the film studio a set town has been built, which is included in the tour route. Here you can see noble mansions, merchants' houses, St. Petersburg avenues and the city's outskirts. All the buildings are made of wood dressed to look like stone, so they are regularly refreshed and sometimes rebuilt for various shooting projects. The streets are paved with real cobblestones. Mosfilm's "town within a town" covers an area of more than 10,000 m².
