At the Kirov Museum of Military Glory (a department of the Kirov Regional Local History Museum named after P.V. Alabin), the exhibition "Memory Lives" (6+) opened ahead of Navy Day. It will become part of the museum's permanent exhibition, which already presents naval servicemen from different generations.
The appearance of the new section dedicated to the memory of Kirov sailors was made possible through cooperation between the museum, Navy veterans, public figures, and activists from the "Admiralty Anchor" organization of the Kirov Regional Branch of the "Russian Union of Veterans".
Through joint efforts, an extensive body of material was collected about two outstanding fellow countrymen — Rear Admiral of the First World War Grigory Vasilyev and Vice Admiral Vadim Kolmagorov. All museum visitors can learn about their lives and contributions to the development of the Russian fleet by reading the information panels. These are complemented by items from the museum's collection: a sailor's uniform, personal belongings, and documents of the heroic sailors.
The exhibition also tells the stories of naval servicemen from different generations: Lieutenant General of Naval Aviation Nikolai Petruhin, a participant in the Great Patriotic War; Guards Petty Officer of the Black Sea Fleet Vasily Vorozhtsov; a marine with the callsign "Struna"; and Hero of Russia Vladislav Golovin.
The event was attended by Navy veterans, combat participants, and participants in the special military operation.
The chairman of the "Sea Borders" organization, head of the initiative group to commemorate the memory of Kirov sailors, retired Captain 3rd Rank Yuri Malykh, thanked the museum for its cooperation, noting that it is the first step toward appropriately presenting the contribution of the sailors from the Vyatka region to the heroic history of the Russian Navy.
"Our duty is to preserve and pass on to future generations everything connected with the defense of the homeland's borders by our fellow countrymen, to demonstrate, through these heroic examples, the continuity of generations, and to prevent the distortion of historical memory," emphasized the director of the regional local history museum, Yuri Balyberdin.
