About museum

The history of the 'Volgograd Regional Organization of the Union of Artists of Russia' dates back to 1934, when a large-scale exhibition was organized in the city, for which 150 works were prepared for display. The active development of artistic life in Stalingrad led to the opening of an art gallery in 1938. The treasures assembled there perished during the Battle of Stalingrad, but exhibition activity was revived along with the city scarred by war. The regional exhibition of works by artists of the Volga region remains particularly popular to this day. In 2000 the city hosted the 'Great Volga' for the second time. Every year on Victory Day painters, graphic artists and sculptors of Volgograd, in works of various forms and genres, depict the life of our city, its heroic past and the achievements in building a new post-war life.
