Exhibition Center of Folk Arts and Crafts 'Afanasy'
About museum
Opened in 2012, the tourist center 'Afanasy' includes an exhibition hall showcasing folk arts and crafts from the Nizhny Novgorod Region, as well as a workshop space, a souvenir shop and a conference hall. It features works from 23 enterprises and items from private collections. Visitors are especially drawn to the striking white-and-blue collection of Gzhel porcelain and the lapidary (stone‑cutting) craft of the Bornukovskaya Cave factory. You can also take part in master classes on painting plaster figurines, rock painting, and making a protective amulet doll. An apple orchard surrounds the center, paths are lined with ornamental plants, and in the mini-square 'Muse and Creativity' you can see bronze compositions by internationally renowned sculptor G. Pototsky. In addition, there are flower beds with rare plants, a small ring-shaped pond, swings, wrought-iron benches and footbridges, 'hobbit houses', an exhibition of vintage cars and motorcycles, and metal structures shaped like a whimsical crocodile, a robot, or a giant mosquito.
