Military-Historical Museum "Ilyinskie Rubezhi"
About museum
On May 8, 1975, a museum complex was solemnly opened in the Kaluga Region dedicated to the battles of units of the 43rd Army, including the cadets of the Podolsk military schools in October 1941. The idea for its creation was proposed by Lieutenant General I. S. Strelbitsky, a participant in those battles. Construction was organized by the Kaluga Regional Committee of the Komsomol after youth workdays (subbotniks) held across the region. The complex was designed by Honored Architect of the RSFSR E. I. Kireev. On the 2.7-hectare site there are memorial structures, including the Kurgan of Glory with a monument to the cadets of the Podolsk military schools (sculptor — Y. L. Rychkov) and the Eternal Flame, as well as the museum building with an exhibition dedicated to the cadets' feat. A banner with a map and photographs of pillboxes is mounted on the outer wall of the building. On the anniversaries of the battles, events are held here as part of the "Red Junkers" project, including military reenactments.
