Antique Sewing Machine Museum, Pereslavl-Zalessky
About museum
The Kuvykin family moved to Pereslavl from Furmanov in 2012 with a museum collection gathered over eight years across Russia. Today the museum houses more than 300 sewing machines and is located at 23 Kardovskogo Street. In early 1929 the "New World" factory was founded here, later coming under the management of the Pereslavl Promtorg (industrial trade authority). It combined the former factories of Zhitnikov, Eliseev, and Zass. Visitors can learn how the industrial era changed the history of labor and try their hand at sewing by making a souvenir from natural fabrics. The museum is interesting for both locals and tourists, and provides enough information for schoolchildren studying technology.
