About museum
Sudzha Local History Museum was opened by decision of the regional executive committee on the basis of a local history corner in the district House of Culture in 1963. In honor of the 100th anniversary of the death of the great Russian actor M. S. Shchepkin, the museum was given his name and awarded the title 'People's'. In 1990 it became a branch of the Kursk Regional Local History Museum. The museum's collections include more than 4,000 exhibits, and its exhibition area is 219 sq. m. The exhibition reflects the history of the Sudzha land from ancient times to the present day. Special attention is paid to the ceramics collection, which has long been one of the best in the museum.
