Serov Historical Museum
About museum
Serov Historical Museum is one of the oldest in the Northern Urals. It was founded on May 1, 1920. For many years the museum moved from one premises to another, was temporarily closed and reopened. Since May 1953 to the present the Serov museum has been located on the first floor of a residential building. An important event in the museum's history was the opening of a planetarium in 1964 (at present this is the only functioning planetarium of this type in the Sverdlovsk Region). The museum's collections contain items covering different periods of the region's history, from the distant era when the waves of an ancient sea lapped the territory of the Urals to the present. Currently operating: the historical exhibition "Nadezhdinsk - Kabakovsk - Serov" (opened in May 2008), a temporary exhibition hall and a planetarium.
