The museum was founded in 1934 in the estate that belonged to the Old Believer P. P. Sharygin. It is an important part of the Nizhny Novgorod region and holds more than 20,000 storage units. The collection includes items of artistic and historical significance, including Khokhloma painting, matryoshka dolls, carved house boards, carved items, and others. The museum offers visitors the opportunity to see and feel the spiritual heritage of the raskolniki and Old Belief, as well as to take a tour of the history and culture of the Semenovsky area.
