Museum "Art Nouveau Architecture in Simbirsk"
About museum
On the grounds of the former mansion of M. P. von Bradke, chief of the Simbirsk gendarmerie administration, there is a museum dedicated to the architecture of the late 19th - early 20th centuries. The house was rebuilt in the Art Nouveau style according to a design by the well-known Simbirsk architect A. Shodé. This style arrived in Russia from Europe and quickly gained popularity in Simbirsk. An original Art Nouveau school emerged here, which is reflected in many buildings and interiors. The museum's exhibition presents works of decorative and applied arts, as well as the work of three architects who shaped Simbirsk's architectural appearance during the Art Nouveau era. The opening of the museum underscores the importance of this period in the history of Ulyanovsk, which has left an indelible mark on the city's architectural landscape.
