About museum
The building at the corner of Sobornaya and Vvedenskaya streets was constructed to house the 2nd Saratov Women's Gymnasium of the Ministry of Public Education. In 1899 a private progymnasium was established here, which in 1910 became part of the Ministry system and was transformed into a gymnasium. In 1913 construction of the building began to a design by Sergey Kallistratov in the Neoclassical style. The central risalit is adorned with six Corinthian columns, and the plane of the facade is finished with Ionic half-columns. Other decorative elements—wreaths, drooping garlands, bas-reliefs and original panels—add festivity and liveliness to the facade. The interiors are spacious, bright and comfortable. The layout of rooms differs from floor to floor. All this makes the women's gymnasium building beautiful and interesting.
