Pudozh Historical and Local Lore Museum named after A.F. Korablev
About museum
The Pudozh Historical and Local Lore Museum named after A.F. Korablev houses more than 13,500 exhibits. The main collections are ethnographic and historical-domestic collections, as well as archaeological finds, written sources and photographic archives. It contains Pudozh embroidery, spindles, copper-cast metalwork, icons and rare books.
1959 – Alexander Fedotovich Korablev proposed the initiative to establish a museum of the native region's history.
1960 – a large room at the school was allocated to house the exhibition.
13 April 1965 – the bureau of the Pudozh District Committee of the CPSU approved A.F. Korablev as director of the house-museum.
1968 – a building on Gorky Street was allocated to the museum.
1970 – development and installation of the first comprehensive exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of V.I. Lenin.
1 September 1970 – A.F. Korablev was appointed as a research associate of the state historical and local lore museum. This day is the official date of the founding of the Pudozh museum.
1972–1979 – M.A. Romanenko served as the first custodian.
1975 – A.F. Korablev retired. With the help of students, relatives and longtime residents, he had collected more than 7,000 museum items.
