Timashevsk Museum of the Stepanov Family
About museum
Timashevsk Museum of the Stepanov Family is a state museum established in 1977 that reflects the history of an ordinary Russian family and its nine sons who died during the Civil War and the Great Patriotic War. The museum complex includes: the museum in Timashevsk, a memorial homestead in Olkhovsky, a square commemorating the 40th anniversary of Victory, and a memorial complex in the Dneprovskaya stanitsa. In the museum you can see a corner of a Cossack hut, a blacksmith's forge, a cavalry tachanka and much more. One of the halls displays personal belongings, letters and photographic documents from the family archive, and in the center of the showcase are nine ruby bells — nine drops of blood on a mother's heart. You can also see busts of the brothers and works by sculptor Vladimir Zhdanov. Another hall tells the story of Timashevsk residents who participated in the Great Patriotic War. Thus, the Timashevsk Museum of the Stepanov Family is a place to learn about the history and culture of the Kuban Cossacks and to feel the grandeur and pain of the Stepanov family.
