About museum
The museum is home to one of the largest collections of fine art in Russia. Here you can see works from Western Europe of the 17th–19th centuries, including the only work in Russia by the Italian artist Orazio Samacchini, "Annunciation", the "Twelve Months" cycle by the Venetian Leandro Bassano, and an altarpiece by an unknown German artist of the second half of the 15th century. You can also find works by Frans Snyders, Jan van Huysum, David Teniers, as well as pupils of Rembrandt, Rubens, Van Dyck, and Claude Lorrain. The Russian art exhibition includes works by V. L. Borovikovsky, V. I. Tropinin, I. K. Aivazovsky, I. I. Shishkin, V. I. Surikov, N. N. Ge, V. D. Polenov, B. M. Kustodiev and others. Alongside them are 20th-century artists: V. Kandinsky, K. Malevich, P. Konchalovsky, A. Plastov, E. Moiseenko, N. Nesterova. The museum also has the art studio "Krugotsvet", where visitors can try various painting techniques and make a traditional folk doll by hand.
