Pavlovsky District Local History Museum
About museum
In 1924 the Lenin Local History Museum was opened in Pavlovsk. It consisted of three departments: agriculture and economy; history and archaeology; and the nature of the native region. The museum had 553 exhibits, which were maintained by the voluntary work of members of the local history club without a budget. During the Great Patriotic War many exhibits were lost, and the museum could not resume operations. Instead, history and local lore corners appeared in the town and district schools. The most significant of these was the museum at the Pedagogical College, from which, in 1977, a new district local history museum was established in the house of the merchant Odintsov. In subsequent years the museum often moved, altering its structure. Since 2003 it has been located in the center of Pavlovsk in the house of I. M. Odintsov.
