Department of Artistic Crafts of the Abramtsevo Museum-Reserve
About museum
In 1982, the Art and Local History Department of the State Historical, Art and Literary Museum-Reserve "Abramtsevo" was opened in Khotkovo. It is located in the former "stone house for pilgrims" opposite the South Gate of the Pokrovsky Khotkov Monastery, which in 2008 celebrated the 700th anniversary of its founding. The department is an integral part of Russia's history and culture. Its activities are dedicated to the development of Khotkovo as a center of national artistic crafts. The department's collection includes objects of decorative and applied arts, painting, graphics, numismatics, rare photographs and documents. The core of the exhibition tells the story of the Abramtsevo–Kudrin carved craft. Here one can trace the development of the craft from the "Polenov" period to the works of the Khotkovo factory and contemporary masters. The exhibition also complements the collection of Folk Applied Art, the woodworking workshop's works, and the works of Elena Dmitrievna Polenova.
