About museum
A Museum of the History of Savings was opened at the North‑West Bank of Sberbank of Russia (St. Petersburg), dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Sberbank of Russia. The exhibition will introduce visitors to the 160‑year history of savings in Russia — from the first savings banks to the establishment of Sberbank of Russia, which is a branch of the North‑West Bank. The museum displays documents, photographs, banknotes, passbooks, savings bond certificates and other items related to different eras of the savings banks and Sberbank of Russia. Vladimir Shorin, Chairman of the North‑West Bank of Sberbank of Russia, said at the official ceremony that the museum’s opening aims to leave a mark in history about the people who have been, are and will be working in this large financial institution with a centuries‑old history.
