At the Onega Museum you can learn about objects of the district's culture and everyday life. The exhibitions present Pomor trades, crafts, the Novgorod settlement and the development of sawmilling in the North. Here you can discover the characteristics of these lands and feel the northern atmosphere. The museum's second building is the Kuchin family house-museum. Alexander Stepanovich Kuchin was a polar navigator, captain, oceanographer, and a participant in R. Amundsen's expedition to the South Pole and V. Rusanov's Arctic expedition. The house-museum is located in the city center, in a two-story hexagonal house built in 1910. It displays exhibits dedicated to the life and work of A. Kuchin.
