About museum
Novy Urengoy City Museum of Fine Arts was established in 1984 and is the only museum of fine arts in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The museum's collection comprises more than three thousand items, including paintings, graphic works, and decorative-applied art objects. The museum's storage houses include works by well-known Soviet artists of the second half of the 20th century, as well as works by artists from the Tyumen and Yamal regions. The museum's aim is to acquaint residents and visitors with the work of artists, and with the culture and art of the indigenous peoples of the North. It supports young talents and promotes the work of artists from Novy Urengoy and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The museum hosts various exhibitions, master classes, creative evenings, and concerts. It also cooperates with other cultural institutions in Russia and in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
