About museum
The museum in the settlement of Kilmez was opened on October 1, 1992. The museum building belonged before the Revolution to second-guild merchant I. M. Vygodchikov and was built at the end of the 19th century. At the time of opening the museum had one general hall with exhibitions on the history of the native land and an archaeological section. In 2004 the Hall of Military Glory and a collection hall were opened, and new exhibitions appeared: "How the Shirt Grew in the Field", "Vegetation of Kilmez District" and others. In subsequent years several more exhibitions were opened. Today the museum has 4 halls: the history hall, the nature hall, an exhibition hall and the Hall of Military Glory. The museum presents exhibits, documents, paintings, photographs and household items that help to understand the history of the district. Cultural and public events are held regularly.
