Vichuga City Art Museum (Local History Department)
About museum
The Vichuga Museum was opened in 1970 in the building of the local newspaper as a people's museum. In 1972 it became part of the Ivanovo Regional Museum of Local Lore. In 1985 an exhibition of the Vinogradovsky movement was opened, and in 1990 the museum gained independence and the status of an art museum with a local history department. In 2000 a new exhibition devoted to the history of the region was opened. The collections of the museum's art department include works by Ivanovo artists, as well as historical exhibits, documents, photographs, numismatics and items of rural and urban everyday life. Based on these collections, full-scale exhibitions of the art and local history departments have been created, representing the natural, socio-economic and cultural environment.
