About museum
In 2005 the Stavropol Museum of Fine Arts opened a branch in Novokumsk. It is dedicated to the traditional culture of the Nekrasov Cossacks who returned to their homeland in 1962 after the defeat of the Don uprising. The museum's holdings include publications on the history, traditions, everyday life and folklore of the Nekrasov people. In addition, the museum hosts annual scientific-practical seminars, conferences and other cultural events. Today the museum's collection contains more than 1,000 items of various kinds, covering all aspects of the Nekrasov Cossacks' life, such as traditional costumes and accessories, kitchen utensils, agricultural implements, manuscript liturgical books and more. Exhibitions such as "Everyday Life of the Nekrasov Cossacks", "Old Belief" and "Traditions, Customs and Daily Life of the Molokans" present this collection to visitors.
