Kotovsk City Museum Complex
About museum
On May 7, 1995, on the eve of Victory Day, the municipal Museum of the History of Kotovsk was opened. It houses the collections of two public museums: the Museum of Revolutionary, Military and Labor Glory of the Plastics Plant and the Museum of the History of the City. The main exhibition contains more than two thousand items that tell about the lives of the townspeople—their work, everyday life, traditions and way of life. Each hall represents a period of time with its own ideas, deeds and outcomes. The exhibition covers the history of the city from 1914 to the present. The museum staff organize numerous events for the patriotic education of young people, such as meetings with veterans, museum lessons, and guided tours of the halls and exhibitions. Events are also held to raise civic awareness, including a city gathering of patriotic and creative associations, a city quiz, and others. In this way, young people can connect with the history of their native city and become acquainted with notable people of the Tambov region.
