About museum
The official opening date of the Dalnegorsk Museum was November 7, 1987, but the first visitors arrived in July 1988, when the historical exhibition was opened. From 1988 to 1993 the Museum was a branch of the Primorsky United Museum named after V. K. Arsenyev, and in December 1993 it was transferred to the balance of the city of Dalnegorsk and reorganized into the Museum and Exhibition Center. In 1994 a large mineralogical exhibition was opened here, to which a collection of almost 6,000 mineral specimens was later added, including the absolutely unique "stone mushroom." In 1996 the museum opened an art salon, and in 1997 the exhibition "Nature of Northern Primorye." In 2008 an archaeological exhibition was opened, and in 2012 a new historical exhibition was created using modern computer technologies. The center hosts exhibitions of decorative-applied and fine arts, musical evenings and presentations. In the display halls you can see more than 1,000 herbarium specimens and animal mounts.
