Museum and Literary Center 'House of Poets'
About museum
The Museum and Literary Center 'House of Poets' offers an opportunity to learn about the life and work of the well-known creative Gumilyov family, representatives of the Silver Age. The house was built at the end of the 18th century and belonged to the landowners Lvov. A. I. Gumilyova, the mother of N. S. Gumilyov, lived there. In 1908 the poet came to the estate, and from 1911 to 1917 his wife A. A. Akhmatova visited here every summer. D. D. Bushen and the poetess, artist, public figure and nun E. Yu. Kuzmina-Karavayeva also stayed here. After the Revolution the house was used for various household needs, and in 1935 it was moved to another location. In 1989 an exhibition was opened here displaying the life and work of Russian poets. The second floor presents the interiors of the rooms where cultural figures lived, and the first floor houses a spacious drawing room where creative meetings and evenings are held. In addition, the museum, together with the city administration, organizes the Gumilyov Festival.
