The S. V. Rachmaninoff Museum-Reserve 'Ivanovka' is the world's largest center for the preservation and promotion of Russian cultural heritage associated with the life and work of the great Russian composer, pianist and conductor Sergey Vasilievich Rachmaninoff. A significant period of the composer's life, from 1890 to 1917, was connected with the estate. Many of Rachmaninoff's creative ideas originated and received their first realization here.
\r\nThe pre-revolutionary address of Ivanovka: Tambov Governorate, Tambovo-Kamyshinskaya line of the Ryazan–Ural Railway (Rzhaksa station), Stepanovskaya volost of Tambov uyezd. The estate was located on the border of Tambov and Borisoglebsk uyezds of the Tambov Governorate, 100 versts from the governorate town of Tambov, 18 versts from the nearest railway station Rzhaksa, 17 versts from the hospital in the village of Kamenka, and 10 versts from the volost center in the village of Stepanovka.
\r\nFrom 1909 the Satins transferred the estate to their children: Natalia (the wife of S. V. Rachmaninoff), Sofia and Vladimir. Sofia renounced her share in favor of Natalia. Vladimir was occupied with affairs at his wife's estate Pokrovskoe in the Ryazan Governorate. The de facto owner of Ivanovka became S. V. Rachmaninoff.
\r\nBetween 1918 and 1927 the estate was destroyed.
\r\nThe reconstruction of Ivanovka began with Resolution No. 550 of July 29, 1968 of the Bureau of the Tambov Regional Committee of the CPSU and the regional executive committee 'On the perpetuation of the memory of S. V. Rachmaninoff'.
\r\nOn May 26, 1968, in the building of the Ivanovka village club, the staff of the Tambov Regional Museum, under the leadership of L. N. Rostislavskaya, created the S. V. Rachmaninoff Room-Museum.
\r\nOn February 24, 1978 the Tambov regional executive committee decided to establish in Ivanovka the S. V. Rachmaninoff House-Museum as a branch of the Tambov Local History Museum. A. I. Ermakov was appointed director, the permanent head of the Museum throughout its history up to 2022.
\r\nThe grand opening of the S. V. Rachmaninoff House-Museum took place on June 18, 1982.
\r\nIn 2019 the S. V. Rachmaninoff Museum-Estate 'Ivanovka' was transformed into a Museum-Reserve.
