Museum of Military History 'Gromovaya Tower'

In 2017 the Russian Military-Historical Society renewed the museum exhibition in the Gromovaya Tower of the Smolensk fortress wall. On the second and third levels of the tower are displayed household items and weapons, documents, drawings and plans of the wall and towers. VR headsets, audio guides and multimedia technologies are used to immerse visitors in history. The first level houses a souvenir shop, and the fourth level provides a space for events. In the tower you can see an interactive model of the Smolensk wall and walk along narrow staircases. The Gromovaya Tower presents the unique history of the Smolensk fortress wall and its defenders. It is the first tower to have been restored to its original appearance. The update of the tower's museum exhibition is the first step by the Russian Military-Historical Society toward preserving and introducing museum exhibitions in all towers of the Smolensk fortress wall.
