About museum

The T. T. Kusimov Museum is located in the village of Kusimovo in the Abzelilovsky District of the Republic of Bashkortostan. It was opened in 1975 under the name "Museum of Military Glory" in the village primary school. In 1985 it was renamed the "Museum of Military and Labor Glory" and moved to its own building, erected on the site of the house where Tagir Taipovich Kusimov was born. In February 1994 the museum was named in honor of its inspirer. In 1998, after reconstruction, it was reopened with the participation of the President of the Republic of Bashkortostan M. G. Rakhimov and the general's son — UGATU rector S. T. Kusimov. From 1993 to 2006 the museum was a branch of the State Budgetary Cultural Institution of the Republic of Bashkortostan "National Museum of the Republic of Bashkortostan", and from 2006 to 2016 it became a municipal budgetary cultural and arts institution founded by the administration of the municipal district "Abzelilovsky District". The museum's exhibition consists of three halls displaying T. Kusimov's personal belongings and weapons, his awards, printed publications, illustrative materials about him, as well as an ethnography section presenting local life.
