About museum
May 9, 2005 was the opening date of the Local History Museum, founded on the basis of the local history circle at the Raduga House of Creativity. Students, teachers and local historians took part in collecting local history materials. Over the years the museum has brought together various segments of the district's population in local history work. The museum's holdings include more than 2,600 storage units, including an ethnographic collection, documents, photographs, a collection of machinery/vehicles, and rare books. On an area of 230 square meters there is an exhibition presenting the traditional culture of Russians, Chuvash, Mordvins and Tatars, as well as the heroes of the Great Patriotic War and contemporary events. The Local History Museum serves as a center for the patriotic education of youth, and hosts various events, seminars, conferences and meetings with interesting people. Approximately five thousand people visit the museum each year.
