Museum of the novel "The Brothers Karamazov"
About museum
The F. Dostoevsky Museum is located in Staraya Russa. It is a two-story mansion from the first third of the 19th century that belonged to the merchant N. Beklemishevsky. Exhibits include objects, photographs, and illustrations that allow one to imagine Dostoevsky's world and his characters. On the landing of the second-floor staircase you can see illustrations by B. Nepomnyashchy, which convey the full multifaceted nature of the world described in the novel. The first hall displays materials confirming the Old Russian period in the writer's life: a map, the first edition of the novel, magazines, letters, newspapers, portraits, and mannequins. The second hall features the interior of Fyodor Karamazov's living room with furniture and household items, as well as sculptures of family members. The remaining halls depict the everyday life of the novel's characters in the second half of the 19th century.
