P. P. Semenov-Tyan-Shansky Museum
About museum
In 1859 Pyotr Petrovich Semenov-Tyan-Shansky, a Russian researcher of geography, botany, statistics and public affairs, came to the village of Gremyachka in the Muraevenskaya volost following the death of his wife's aunt; he paid off the deceased's debts and became the new owner of the estate. For half a century the scholar spent every summer here with his family. Today the manor in the Miloslavsky District honors the memory of the native. Although the wooden house burned down long ago, a small stone building remains — the white wing where the museum was founded. The founder is the municipal formation — Miloslavsky Municipal District.
