N. N. Burdenko Museum
About museum
On October 21, 1976 the Memorial House-Museum of the outstanding surgeon, the first president of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR, Hero of Socialist Labour Nikolai Nilovich Burdenko was opened. This building was originally the home of Burdenko's parents and was moved to the grounds of the Penza Regional Hospital, which was named in honor of N. N. Burdenko. Since 2011 the museum has been a branch of the Penza State Local History Museum. The museum displays materials related to Burdenko's scientific and personal life, as well as memorial items and family documents: uniforms, furniture, books, silver tableware, the Order of the Red Star and a portable surgical kit. The exhibition helps to better understand the life and work of N. N. Burdenko. The museum has become one of the most visited and important sites in the city of Penza.
