Museum Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography of OmPGU
About museum
Vyacheslav Alexandrovich Mogilnikov and Vladimir Ivanovich Matyushenko - famous Soviet archaeologists and researchers of Western Siberia and the Altai - brought material for the first collections of the Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography of OmGPU. This was done during expeditions under their leadership. Today the artifacts from the KrAK excavations constitute a significant part of the museum's holdings. In 2008, at the request of the federal agency Rosokhrankultura, the museum was separated from the History Faculty of OmGPU and became an independent entity. The prehistory of the Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography of OmGPU is directly connected with the names of Vyacheslav A. Mogilnikov and Vladimir I. Matyushenko - well-known Soviet archaeologist-researchers of Western Siberia and the Altai. Based on the results of their expeditions, material for the museum's first collections was assembled and placed in the archaeology office of the History Faculty of OmGPU. At present, artifacts from the KrAK excavations are a significant part of the museum's collections.
