The Tula Museum of Arms is one of the oldest museums in Russia and possesses an outstanding collection of firearms and edged weapons of domestic and foreign manufacture. It enables one to trace the stages of weapon development in history and to understand how weapons were formed and evolved. The unique building shaped like a bogatyr's helmet draws attention to the human creator of weapons. The museum houses a permanent exhibition "History of Small Arms and Edged Weapons from the 14th Century to the Present", supplemented by multimedia complexes for variety. Today the Museum of Arms offers visitors interactive programs, master classes, cycles of special events and international conferences. There is also a strikeball shooting range and a café, and visitors can participate in history lessons and family New Year performances. Thus, the Museum of Arms has become an important part of Russia's cultural and scientific life.
