Priuralsky District Local History Museum
About museum
The museum was founded in 1991 based on a small collection of museum exhibits gathered by students of Aksarkovskaya Secondary School. Since then it has developed into a multidisciplinary scientific and cultural institution with a total of 7,301 storage units. The main collection comprises 6,093 units, and the research-and-auxiliary collection comprises 1,208. The majority of these holdings form an ethnographic collection representing the culture of the Indigenous small-numbered peoples of the Far North. The museum's main operating principle is the preservation of traditional forms combined with innovative creative methods. It is actively involved in preserving the district's cultural and historical heritage and participates in the scientific and cultural life of the district and the okrug. The museum has created six exhibitions: 'Archaeology', 'Ethnography', 'Nature', 'Fish Industry Hall', 'Hostages of the Political System', and 'Hall of Military Glory'. The museum has also organized two district scientific-practical conferences and regularly works together with cultural institutions, schools, and the Children's Creativity Center.
