Museum-apartment of the Samoylov family of actors
About museum
In January 1994, a memorial museum-apartment of the Samoylov actors was opened at house No. 8 on Stremyannaya Street — the fifth branch of the Saint Petersburg State Museum of Theatre and Music. It features memorial rooms, a cozy musical drawing room, exhibition halls and an exhibition dedicated to St. Petersburg's theatrical culture of the 19th–20th centuries. The house was the home of the famous actor Vasily Vasilyevich Samoylov, a representative of the second generation of the dynasty, and became one of Petersburg's cultural centers. Today the museum is the only museum of dramatic actors in the city. The exhibition is devoted to the history of the remarkable dynasty of actors of the Alexandrinsky Theatre, as well as to the personality of V. V. Samoylov. The museum has become a reflection of the past and a symbol of St. Petersburg's traditional culture, actively reviving both the spiritual and material values of the Samoylovs' luxurious house.
