Museum of the History of Tatar Literature with the Memorial Apartment of Sharif Kamal
About museum
The Sharif Kamal Museum is the first museum in the Republic of Tatarstan dedicated to the well-known Tatar writer. The decision to establish it was made in 1944, and the museum opened to visitors in 1950. It is located in the apartment where Sharif Kamal lived and was arranged by his daughter Zainap Baygildieva. Sharif Kamal (1884–1942) was a writer, translator, public figure, and Honored Art Worker. The museum is housed in a two-story merchant mansion built in the early 19th century, listed as a cultural monument of republican significance. In 2019, after renovation, it reopened as the House of the Tatar Book and occupied the entire building. It features a memorial apartment, exhibitions, a library-media center, a coworking hall, a museum bookshop, and an interactive mini-printing press.
