The Alapaevsk Narrow-Gauge Railway (AUZhD) museum is a unique memorial complex of industrial heritage from the 19th–20th centuries, established in 2015. It occupies part of the historical territory of the AUZhD locomotive depot and includes an open-air exhibition as well as an exhibition on the second floor of the electrical workshop building. The Alapaevsk Narrow-Gauge Railway, with a track gauge of 750 mm, is a distinctive historical and technical monument. There are no equivalents in the world in terms of its length and layout. The museum's exhibits tell the story of the formation and development of locomotive and rolling stock operations, track machines, and the organization of the transportation process. The proximity of transport routes, moving trains, whistles, and the everyday life of the railway create a unique atmosphere for visitors. Fragments of railway infrastructure are on display — water cranes, poles, track signs, and semaphores. Authentic and reconstructed exhibits reflecting the railway's life since its inception are also presented here. These include machines, mechanisms, and structures used on the railway. The open-air exhibition is a historical-industrial area that houses the technical part of the display.
