Museum of Hero of the Soviet Union Petr Mikhailovich Gavrilov
About museum
On June 30, 2010, the Museum of Hero of the Soviet Union Petr Mikhailovich Gavrilov was opened in the village of Alvidino as a tribute from his grateful fellow countrymen on the 110th anniversary of the hero. It is known that Petr Mikhailovich's house was a semi-subterranean log hut, but the original house has not been preserved, and the site is occupied by another building. Therefore, the administration of the Pestrechinsky Municipal District of Rostov Oblast specially built a wooden one-story building on the outskirts of Alvidino for the museum. Here you can see the hero's uniform and personal belongings, as well as letters, photographs and books. The museum presents two exhibitions: a typological interior of a hut of the poorest peasant Tatars (Kryashens) and a historical-biographical exhibition. The museum's collection comprises 396 items. In addition, a model of the future military memorial complex is displayed here. Since 2019, the museum has annually hosted the All-Russian military reenactment festival "Elbeden Military Games", dedicated to the legendary defender of the Brest Fortress, Petr Gavrilov.
