Mglin District Local History Museum
About museum
The Mglin District Local History Museum is one of the museums of Mglin District in Bryansk Oblast. It was opened in 1986 thanks to the efforts of local historian Z. E. Protchenko, the Council of Veterans of the Great Patriotic War, and concerned citizens of Mglin District. The museum assembled and arranged the exhibitions "Mglin — an Ancient Town" and "The Great Patriotic War". At the end of 1986 the building was transferred to the Bryansk Art Gallery, and the museum was moved into one of the classrooms of Vocational School No. 37 (SPTU-37). However, in 1998 the museum was reestablished by a decision of the Mglin District administration. In 2003 the museum was named after Z. E. Protchenko, and in 2011 the Municipal Budgetary Institution "Mglin District Local History Museum" was created. Exhibitions on display include "Archaeology", "Ethnography", "Military Glory", "Internationalist Soldiers", "Notable People of the District", and "Art Exhibition". The museum invites everyone to learn about the town's history and its famous residents.
