Memorial Museum of Composer G. V. Sviridov
About museum
In Fatezh, a memorial museum was opened in honor of the 90th anniversary of the birth of Georgy Vasilyevich Sviridov. In the building of an old mansion, where at the beginning of the 20th century the postal and telegraph office was located, one of the apartments was occupied by V. G. Sviridov, the father of the future classic. In this house, on December 16, 1915, Georgy Sviridov was born. The museum's exhibition area is 115 sq. m. Here you can learn about the life and work of the composer — his childhood in his native Fatezh, his years living in Kursk, Leningrad and Moscow, as well as his creative path. The museum displays early 20th-century furniture, a Becker piano that appeared in the family in 1920, documents, photographs, scores and items from the composer's desk. In 2006 a bust of the composer, the work of People's Artist of the USSR M. K. Anikushin, was transferred to the museum. The museum building has the status of a federal architectural monument. All-Russian music festivals are also held here, featuring performances by well-known soloists and choral ensembles.
