Valentin Serov Memorial Art Museum and the Domotkanovo Estate
About museum
Domotkanovo Museum was founded in 1965 as a people's museum. Since 1976 it has been a branch. It is located in the former estate of V. D. von Derviz, Domotkanovo. The exhibition, dedicated to the estate's history and to figures of Russian culture who visited here in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, is housed in a wooden building dating from the late 19th century. On the grounds are the remnants of an old park with ponds and part of the main manor house. Prominent Russian artists V. A. Serov, I. I. Levitan, V. A. Favorsky, I. Ya. Bilibin, I. S. Efimov and N. Ya. Simonovich-Efimova lived and worked here. The museum offers guided tours of the exhibition and park, traditional festivals, staged performances and exhibitions. In summer it attracts visitors for countryside recreation, and an ecological trail route from Chupriyanovka to Domotkanovo has also been developed.
