About museum
In 1948–49 a secondary school was opened in the village of Maya, where V. R. Larionov worked — an Honored Teacher of the Yakut ASSR and a veteran of public education. At that time he ran a local history club that was very popular among the students. They organized excursions, collected materials on the history and culture of Maya. As a result, a decision was made to create a museum based at the school. Under the leadership of V. R. Larionov and his students many materials dedicated to the history and culture of Maya were collected. Eventually a museum was opened that attracted many visitors.
